The Hawaii Safety and Health Council does the following:
Acts on behalf of the Secretary of Labor on occupational
safety and health issues.
Promotes professional development, training, recognition
and awards and dissemination of information within our jurisdiction.
Encourages closer working relationships among safety
and health people from recognized federal labor organizations,
state and private agencies and the Honolulu-Pacific Executive
Board.
Acts as a clearinghouse on information and directives
on occupational injury and illness prevention, industrial
hygiene, hazardous material, health maintenance and promotion,
employee assistance programs, and many other safety-related
topics.
Participation in the Hawaii Safety and Health Council
is open to the following:
Federal safety and health professionals
Federal collateral duty safety personnel
Supervisors and union representatives of federal civilian
employees
Private sector safety and health professionals
Occupational health professionals, industrial hygienists,
nurses, and physicians
Representatives from Hawaii Occupational Safety and
Health Programs
Members of other safety and occupational health organizations*
With the melting pot of cultures and businesses in Hawaii,
many effective and diverse partnerships can be cultivated.
